For years the John J. Steuby Company made parts for the best can opener in the world, the Swing-A-Way. This opener entered the marketplace in 1954. Some of these openers are still working 40 years on. They were made from carbon steel. Featured skip proof feed wheels and were gear driven. The cutter, gears and wheel were all heat treated and zinc plated. Unfortunately, several years ago, the Swing-A-Way Co. sold out to China. Fortunately, today, John continues to manufacture these same great parts.
